Picture a group of more than 150 women all converging on the Nichols campus for an evening of education and inspiration. This is what happened last Thursday evening at the third annual Empowering Women in Business Conference (EWIB). We are pleased to host the conference each year because we have the expertise and space to design and deliver a conference that provides networking and learning opportunities for current and future business women (our students). Thanks to the hard work of two of our extremely dedicated staff members, Lisa Campbell and Cindy Lafortune, who designed this event, and their committee of Nichols staff and external community partners, the costs were covered by sponsorship, vendor tables, and donations, allowing us to provide the conference at no cost to participants.
Some of the conference sessions included “Brain Gym-Improving Your Memory,” “Which Social Media is Right for My Business?” and “Women Rock Their Finances.”
The EWIB conference committee worked in collaboration with the Women of Nichols (WON) group which fosters a supportive, mentoring environment for our female students. Over the past two years, the group has sponsored fun and educational events and activities, giving female students the opportunity to connect with other students, faculty and staff about issues facing women.
While the committee takes a breather from planning such a successful event, I know that in several months, they will begin the planning process again! So if you have ideas/suggestions for next year’s conference, please feel free to forward them our way.
