8th Annual Worcester Business Breakfast

On June 3, Nichols hosted and sponsored the 8th annual Worcester Business Breakfast. It has always been our most well-attended event because so many Nichols alumni stay in the area and contribute to the economic, civic, and social initiatives that drive central Massachusetts. This year, we were especially pleased to include the entire business community.

The morning’s program featured two panelists who are leaders by any definition, Keith Anderson ’81 and William Glavin Jr. Currently chief investment officer of Anderson Global Macro, Keith distinguished himself in the investment world when he founded BlackRock, Inc., the world’s largest money manager.  Bill Glavin Jr. currently serves as the chairman and chief executive officer of Wall Street’s iconic OppenheimerFunds, Inc. Nicole Lapin, former anchor at CNN and CNBC, served as moderator.

The event also gave us an opportunity to reinforce our mission to be a college of choice for business and leadership education, through the introduction of a new logo and tagline. This new look will appear in our advertising, our publications, and letterhead. When you see it, I hope you will think about how Nichols fosters leadership. We are very appreciative to Keith and Bill for offering their valuable time and knowledge.

Recognizing a leader in another area, I was pleased to announce a $5 million commitment to Nichols by John Davis, a 1972 graduate of Nichols and a member of our board of trustees since 1981. A gift of this magnitude will keep us strong, vital and competitive as we undertake new capital projects, such as the new academic building and major renovations to our athletic facilities. This gift, along with gifts from other generous donors, will advance our mission, fuel our vision, and position Nichols for its next century of transforming today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders.  The college community is grateful to John and our other donors for dedicating themselves to Nichols and our plan for the future.
